Known Problems and Hints
Technical Support
New Text Chart
A new chart type allows arbitrary text to be included in the body of a page. In addition to text, this may also include images and links. Text may be imported from a variety of formats including Word and HTML, or typed directly into the chart. Besides text and formatting, the display may also include hypertext links and images.
Better Support for High DPI Displays
Support for high DPI displays has been improved to make displays more legible by better scaling icons.
Analytics Improvements
The amount of variability in a model explained by a particular field is now given as a percent, to make it easier to interpret the importance of fields in the model.
The specification of PValue and Training Threshold have been moved from the main Analytics pane to the Model Configuration dialog. This allows these parameters to be conveniently chosen before you begin training your model. The training subset is automatically chosen to keep model building time low, by default limiting to 10,000 rows. You can still chose a larger subset if you want a more accurate model.
A new function is now available for combining small occurance categories in a categorical field together to make it easier to build models on categorical fields. This is a new version of the "bin()" function in the Expression Builder. A dialog, available from the Model Configuration dialog, may be used to create a binned version of a field while configuring a model.
A new model may be created as a copy of an existing model. This makes it eaiser to make a new model that is a small variation of an existing model.
A model configuration may now be saved without training the model. This allows you to interrupt the modeling process and return later without having to actually train the model.
Expression Builder Date Capabilities
The Expression Builder capabilities for creating and manipulating dates have been extended. New capabilities are:
A new "date()" function allows a date to be created from 3 numbers. Previously there was no way to create a date other than loading from a data source.
The "date()" function may also be used to create Fiscal Dates, which can then be formatted using the Date Parser.
A date may be offset a number of days by adding or subtracting a number from a date.
All logical comparison operators are now supported: less than, less than or equal, greater than, greater than or equal, equal. Previosly, only a subset of operators were supported.
Missing values for dates are now fully supported.
An additional new capability is:
Comments may be included in expressions, beginning with "#" and terminating with a newline or the end of the string
Axis Labeling Improvements
The algorithm used to generate tick marks and values for numeric axis has been improved to select a better, more intuitive set of mark values. Abbreviations of number are improved. Integer values are correctly labelled without decimals.
Defects
Defects have been repaired:
Analytics:
2504 redo not currently supported error prevents model building
2208 Add trend line to OLS model scatter plot
2355 Analytics: Don't include intercept in field contribution bar chart
2404 Help link is missing from Analytics pane
2581 % Concordance is not saved
2582 Error in model building does not identify the source of the error
2648 Access counts displayed to show model building progress are now scaled to avoid overflowing 32 bit integers when building larger models.
Expressions:
2633 Double Quotes in Link Function doesn't work
2638 Two link Functions give incorrect results
Flight Recorder:
2612 Bookmark Crash in 6.7 RC4
2615 Flight Recorder bookmarks fail for summary sheet that is not initialized
2564 undo redo not supported with bookmark
2567 Flight Recorder gives wrong error message if flight record imported as bookmark
2569 FR complains about no resources after clear
2366 Can't play back Data Sheet search in Date column/crash playing edited constraint
2654 First project opened in 6.7 throws NullReferenceException for Filter Flight Record
Analyst:
2658 Setting field GROUPING to false causes charts to display values with 6 decimal places; should be 0
2649 Refresh Data crashes the project
2595 Counts grid spec of row crashes Analyst
2516 Data sheet shifts to smaller font after columns added and can't return to full size
2660 Access is denied exception when Analyst run under Terminal Services due to checking for multiple copies running
2662 Exception on opening 32-bit Analyst/X while 64-bit version running
2589 Measure labels on bars should better handle <1K in abbrevated mode
2070 Labels on bars not centering in horizontal alignment
2668 Exported Data Sheets/Summary Sheets should use renamed column headings rather than field name when column headers are customized.
2608 Custom named Data Sheet/Summary Sheet column headings become incorrectly ordered if field added or removed.
2696 User confused by message about multiple sessions. A clearer message is provided better describing potential problems.
2739 Date of 12/31/9999 caused a Histogram on that field to crash the application. This could happen in the Project Workshop when the field was selected, since it displays the field as a histogram.
ADVIZOR Server:
2640 Changed selection mode not used by Data Sheet Search; only recognized on mouse action
2577 Server AE Directory include project refresh date
2664 Project load takes 30 minutes on server
2666 AdBlock can prevent anything loading so make it show a warning
2736 Server locked up if Data Sheet was zoomed out to a large degree with a large number of rows
2643 Subdirectory-level project access control lost with HTML 5 client
Projects before R6.6 must be re-published to ADVIZOR Server to see horizontal zoom bars on Data Sheets or Summary Sheets.
Models built with versions of ADVIZOR AnalystX before R6.4 are not supported. Please note the configuration of your model and re-create it.
All projects must be be re-published to ADVIZOR Server for versions predating R6.1.
Only install ADVIZOR Server to the default location on the "C" drive. Installing to another location will cause publishing to the server to not work.
Existing projects with [Heat Map charts]( should be reviewed. In prior versions, in some cases, Heat Maps could become misconfigured. For each Heat Map in existing projects:
Use the [Property Explorer]( to inspect the Heat Map's Middle Value property.
If the Middle Value property contains a value that you did not explicitly configure, clear the property value.
When submitting a problem to Technical Support, email is the preferred mechanism (support@advizorsolutions.com). In the email, please provide as many of the following as possible:
Your name & contact information including phone number
The name of the product you are using and its version number
Your license key used to install the product
A detailed explanation of what you were doing that led up to the problem.
Screen shot(s) and/or exact text of any error information
Errors are logged to a file at this location; include a copy of this file:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\ADVIZOR Solutions\<product name>\error.log OR C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\ADVIZOR Solutions\error.log on Windows XP
Replace <product name> with Analyst or AnalystX, etc. as applicable to your product.
Machine's System Information file created from the "System Information" saved as type ".nfo"
Operating system's Application event log in .evt format so that we get the detailed event descriptions
If you're having a database access problem, submit all relevant DB information, including DB vendor, DB version, whether the DB is local or remote, whether or not you are able to access the DB using vendor or third party supplied query tools, etc
If you encounter an error/exception and are offered the opportunity to forward diagnostic information, please do so. However, note that you can help reduce the time to resolution by also including details of the actions that led to the event. Our ability to rapidly understand the problem is significantly increased when we know all the details.
