ADVIZOR Analyst comes with a number of ribbons, each focused around specific tasks. The main ribbon used for analysis and visual discovery is the Analyze ribbon. This ribbon contains the controls used to slice and dice the data in the project, from excluding data to changing selections modes and changing the color of the data.

Exclude Section

The exclude section contains buttons that excludes data from the dashboard.

Button

Description

Exclude Unselected. Remove currently unselected elements from charts. These items are logically removed and will not show in any of the charts until they are restored. They are also removed from any predictive analytics/modeling. See also "Exclude Selected".

Exclude Selected. Remove currently selected elements from charts. These items are logically removed and will not show in any of the charts until they are restored. They are also removed from any predictive analytics/modeling. See also "Excluded Unselected".

Restore Section

The restore section contains buttons that restores excluded data. Restored data is available to select on and is visible in all the charts.

Button

Description

Restore Excluded and Select All. Restore and display all excluded elements. The state of all other visible items becomes selected.

Restore Excluded Restore and display all excluded elemenets. The state of other visible items is unchanged.

Select Section

The select section contains buttons that affect the selection state of the data in the dashboard. The first three buttons affect the selection state of all the non-excluded data. The last two dropdown menus change the selection mode, which controls how the mouse interacts with data when you sweep over or click on a chart.

Button

Description

Select All. Highlight all data that is not excluded. Data is excluded using the "Exclude ..." buttons.

Unselect All. Un-highlight all data currently displayed.

Toggle Selection. Reverse current selection state: change selected items to unselected, unselected to selected. Excluded data remains excluded.

Rectangular Selector. Default Setting. Place the cursor in the area to be selectged and drag the mouse while holding down the left mouse button. A rectangular selection box appears around the data that you've selected.

Circular Selector. Place the cursor in the area to be captured and drag the mouse while holding down the left mouse button. A circular selection area appears around the data that you have selected.

Lasso Selector. Use this tool to select data by creating freehand selection borders around the data.

Replace Selection Mode. Default Setting. The data identified with the mouse replaces the previous selection.

Add Selection Mode. Data identified with the mouse is added to the existing selection.

Subtract Selection Mode. Data identified with the mouse is removed from the existing selection.

Intersect Selection Mode. Data identified with the mouse remains selected if currently selected; any selected items not identified become unselected. Use this function to identify a subset of the currently selected items. This is essentially an "and" function.

Undo and Redo

Button

Description

Undo. Remove the previous action. Caution: this may be slow or inoperative with large data sets.

Redo. Return to the state reversed by a previous use of "Undo". Caution: this may be slow or inoperative with large data sets.

Color Section

The color section contains two dropdown menus that affect how data is colored throughout the dashboard and a button that displays the color legend.

Button

Description

Color Scale

Color By

Display Color Legend. Displays the color scale for currently-selected data. The Color Legend shows how color is applied to the data that's displayed in the Color By field. By selecting data within a chart, you can see how color is assigned to the selected data. This is a read-only view. Information displayed here cannot be changed or edited.

Description

Analyze Help Opens the ADVIZOR Help page on the Analyze Ribbon.

Use this pulldown list to select a . A color scale is a range of colors that can be applied to a variable.

Color is mapped to a data field by taking colors from a color scale based on the field type. For example, for categorical data, the data is ordered and colors taken from the scale; for continuous data, the range of data is found and the colors from the color scale mapped across the data range. Use this pulldown list to select a data field from which to base the color scale. See for more information.
