# Inserting a Time Table

The [Time Table](https://help.advizorsolutions.com/v7.2+/charts-and-visual-discovery/charts-overview/time-table) chart displays detailed event over time in the form of a table of tick marks. Typically, this chart is used to examine many events over time (for example, server alarms for network intrusion detection).

**Inserting a New Time Table**

1. 2. If the Data Configuration form is not already showing, click the configuration button ![](https://1916279106-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-legacy-files/o/assets%2F-Lf5YcsNySU3Og8Ms9rA%2F-Lf5ZCyAZIyYzxDLDEKS%2F-Lf5ZyNEX50eI7MoXvly%2FInitConfig.png?generation=1558109763542834\&alt=media) to open the Data Configuration window. If the Data Table shown is not the one you want, use the drop-down list to select the right one.
3. Use the pulldown lists to select **X Field** and **Y Field**. 
4. Optionally, you can select fields for **Group By, Angle, Size,** or **Duration** parameters from the respective pulldown lists. Note that the **Angle** field is mapped to a small range of glyphs (circle, square, triangle, +) by default, unless the Advanced Chart Property "Angled Events" is set to True.
5. Click **OK.**  The time table displays.
